ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad has deposited 27 kilogram of gold into the Mint Department Lahore. The money, coming through this gold, will help the MCC to meet the assigned target of current financial year. The Islamabad collectorate has appointed two Customs Superintendents for recovery from the tax evaders. The MCC has geared up efforts to achieve the upward revised target of the month of April 2016-17 under the head of all duty taxes.
According to Collector Dr. Arslan, the MCC Islamabad is trying its level best to achieve its upward revised collection target for the month of April of Financial Year 2016-17.
In this regard, MCC Islamabad is holding auctions of seized goods and impounded vehicles, and the collectorate asked the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) to do more and more seizures of smuggled goods, NDP vehicles and offending vehicles so that the collectorate can achieve its assigned target.
He said there are total 155 pending cases of recovery whereas 119 other cases of different types in which revenue involved are in different courts and the other 36 cases belong to tax defaulters which will be finalized within the end of this month of April FY2016-17.
Dr. Arslan said he has assigned tasks of recovery to Islamabad dry port and the Air Freight Unit Islamabad. The Air Freight Unit (AFU) will earn Rs20.00million of revenue through bank guarantees and recovery during month of April FY2016-17, this amount will help collectorate of Islamabad to meet its assigned target.
He said the collectorate will hold an auction of confiscated vehicles on 24th of April FY16-17 and hoped that it will earn around Rs30 to 35 million of revenue through auction.
He ordered the recovery branch to make solid actions against defaulters to get the money back from them. He has asked the recovery branch to make close alliance with the NADRA to get required information about defaulters. He asked the recovery department to freeze accounts and property of defaulters against their pending dues if needed.
