LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned a case of an accused arrested from Lahore with a truck loaded with costly tyres.
Sources told Customs Today that the accused was booked when customs intelligence team intercepted a truck coming from Quetta near Thokar Niaz Baig. During searching of the truck, the customs intelligence officials found a huge quantity of smuggled tyres tactfully hidden and packed.
Sources said the tyres were packed almost five in one tyre. The tyres recovered include costly tyres of Pajero, Mazada trucks and other vehicles. Different brands of tyres were also recovered. The market value of seized tyres is almost Rs05million which were being transported to Lahore for a businessman Matiur Rehman.
The customs team produced the accused before the court of customs taxation and anti smuggling which handed over him to customs team for interrogation for a four-day physical remand and then he was sent to jail for judicial trial. Now he is on judicial trial.
