KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspect namely Bacha Khan, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 6360 kilograms betel nuts.
On June 29, 2019, investigation officer of customs preventive appeared before the court and submitted charge sheet against nominated suspects namely Amanullah son of Faiz Ullah, Saifullah son of Faizal Kareem and Bacha Khan and informed the court that on an actionable information, customs team intercepted a New Prince Coach (EURO-3) bearing registration no: BSB-842 and recovered 6360 kilograms betel nuts worth Rs 3,180,000.
He further submitted that after fulfillment of legal requirement, suspects were taken into customs custody and goods along with vehicle were also seized. He further informed the court that during the investigation, it was found that all suspects were trying to smuggle contraband goods with the help of their associates.
After the hearing, court approved charge sheet against above mentioned suspects and issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspect.
According to the prosecution, case was registered at the office of Anti-Smuggling Organization HQ NMB Wharf, Karachi for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the customs act, 1969 further read with section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
