Customs Court issues NBWs against suspects in HSD smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non bailable warrants against suspects namely Amanullah and Khuda Dost, who are absconders in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 12,000 liters High Speed Diesel (HSD).

On March 13, 2019, investigation officer submitted interim charge sheet against the above mentioned suspects and informed the court that on actionable information, customs team intercepted a Hino oil tanker bearing registration no: TTD-528 and recovered 12,000 liters High Speed Diesel.

He further argued that during the raid, suspects were asked to produce lawful documents, however, they failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, customs officials seized the goods along with vehicle and suspects were also taken into custody.

Investigation officer further informed that a suspect namely Bashir Ahmed arrested and was sent to jail by this court after completion of his physical remand, however the above mentioned suspects still are absconding and prosecution is trying its best for their arrest and they will be produced before the court when arrested.

After the hearing, court accepted interim challan and issued non bail-able warrants against absconding suspects.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under Section 2 (s) 156, (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clause 8 & 89 of Section 156 (1) ibid read with Section 3 (I) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
