KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bailable warrants against a suspect namely Abdul Sattar. He was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 30,000 liter foreign origin high speed diesel.
During the hearing, the investigation officer submitted challan against the already arrested suspects namely Abdul Rasheed, Muhammad Raheem and absconding suspect namely Abdul Sattar. He informed the court that a team of Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted a Hino truck and recovered 30,000 liter Iranian diesel.
He informed the court that during the raid, the customs officials asked the suspects to produce lawful documents of diesel, but they failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, the customs officials arrested both the accused and seized the diesel.
On the last date of hearing, the investigation officer said that prosecution needs further investigation from suspects therefore, court may send back them to customs department. After hearing his arguments, court had sent them to jail on judicial remand and directed investigation officer to submit charge sheet.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2 (s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses 8 & 89 of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 3 (1) of Import and Export Control Act, 1950.
