KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non-bailable warrants for suspects namely Abdul Ghafoor, proprietor/partner of M/s Aasim Traders, Samiullah, Abdul Rehman, Ehsan Ullah Bhatti, employees of M/s Aasim Traders, who were booked in a tax evasion case.
October 30, 2018, investigation officer of Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim submitted interim charge-sheet against the above-mentioned suspects and others and informed the court that M/s Mosin Plastic Works imported a consignment of ball clay GF 12 weighing 24, 180 kilograms worth Rs291,269.
He further informed that during the examination, customs officials found 10,000 kilogram monosodium glutumate worth Rs1,610,340 instead of declared goods and during the investigation, it is established that importer with the active collaboration of his associates have committed offences in terms violation of Section 2 (s) 16, 32(2) 32A, 155E and 79(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 6 and 33 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 punishable under Clauses 8,14, 14-A and 89 of Section 156 of the Customs Act, 1990.
He further informed the court that accused Mosin is on bail and Appraising Officer Malik Sadabahar is in custody; however, the above-mentioned suspects are still absconders and prosecution is trying its best for arrest them.
