MULTAN: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has imposed a penalty of Rs100,000 each on 14 accused persons who are involved in the smuggling of diesel.
According to details available with Customs Today, on the basis of evidence and witnesses the Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling declared nominated 14 different person as an offenders including Istiaq, son of Sheen Warsik; Akhtar Muhammad, son of Haji Bismillah Khan; Alam Sher Khan, son of Mir Ahmad; Akhtar Mehmood, son of Haji Bismillah; Dawood Jan; Imran Khan, son of Haji Nambullah Khan; Ikramullah, son of Ayaz Khan; Niaz Muhammad, son of Shah Wali Khan; Abdur Rauf, son of Adam Khan; Fazal Ameen, son of Abdul Karim; Mehmood, son of Raziq and Adam Khan, son of Sarwar Khan and imposed a cash penalty of Rs100,000 each after trial of case.
It is important to mention here that Multan Customs’ anti-smuggling teams arrested all the accused persons when they were trying to smuggle huge quantity of non-customs paid Iranian diesel into Punjab near Chowk Sarwar Shaheed Road Rang Pur.
Customs team during checking of oil tankers asked them to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of Iranian origin goods, but they failed to provide any relevant documents.
Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) teams lodge criminal FIR against said accused for smuggling High Speed Diesel (HSD) and accused appeared before the Customs Judge and several accused were on bail and joined investigation of customs.
