LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has imposed a cash penalty of Rs100000 on the culprit arrested in the smuggling of electronic goods from Afghanistan into Lahore.
Accused Ikram-ul-Din was involved in smuggling of different electronic goods. After a judicial trial of the accused on Friday, Customs judge Tahir Sabir imposed on him a cash penalty and announced an imprisonment in his verdict. The punishment consists of an end to the timings of the court.
He was arrested while trying to smuggle electronic goods with the help of his counterparts. He was held from Bund Road, Shera Kot area of Lahore.
The customs investigation and prosecution team presented a complete investigation challan of the case.
On the other hand, the Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling on Friday heard 15 cases including pre-arrest bail pleas filed by suspects. Most of the cases were adjourned without any proceedings as the parties and lawyers concerned did not appear in the court.
Hearing of pre-arrest bail pleas filed by accused Ahmad Khan and Salman were postponed for new dates in the next week. A case against Shaukat Ali was also scheduled for hearing in which court recorded the statements of the parties.
Final arguments and statements of the parties concerned in a case of smuggling against Rafique Ali were also scheduled for hearing which is rescheduled for next week.
