LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a post-arrest bail plea of an accused in a gold smuggling attempt case.
The accused was on the judicial remand. The customs court granted his bail against the cash guarantee of Rs100000. The customs officials on September 11 had foiled the attempt of smuggling from Bahrain into Lahore.
The security personnel conducted a raid over the airport and recovered 1.5 kg gold worth millions of rupees from the passenger. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had passed on a tip-off about suspect Muhammad Riazm, a resident of Gujrat.
The customs preventive has started the strict checking of the goods at the Allama Iqbal International Airport as Hajj pilgrims are also coming to Lahore airport by different flights.
