KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit final charge-sheet against suspects namely M Najib Markatia, owners/proprietor/partner of M/s Paradise Ecommerce Solutions and Rafiq Ahmed Siddiqui, clearing in-charge of M/s Paradise Ecommerce Solution, who were booked in a case mis-declaration and evasion of duty and taxes in the tune of Rs2,854,943.
On Monday, investigation officer produced the above-mentioned suspects before the court and informed that the suspects imported a consignment said to declare as magazines/printed material 51 packages 690 kilograms gross weight from M/s Darlington Postal Company USA BY EK-600 on 19-05-2018, the importer got deliver order and gate pass dated 19/05/2018 duly issued in the morning of May 19, 2018 by the ground handling agent M/s Gerry’s Dnata. The aforesaid shipment was allowed gate out by M/s Gerry’s Dnata and the Preventive staff posted at ICG gate in terms of standing order and the delivery of the instant shipment was under process at about 4.30 pm.
He further informed the court that while inspecting airline manifest along with invoices found a detailed invoices pertaining to instant shipment which revealed contents of the cargo packed in 51 packages and recovered 3D printer one piece, 207kg assorted cosmetic, 50kg assorted food supplements, 26 assorted wrist watches, 34 assorted ladies hand bags, 47 pieces of assorted children garments, 4 pairs assorted baby shoes, 35 pairs assorted ladies shoes, 11 pairs assorted gents shoes, 02 pieces laptop and other assorted goods.
Investigation officer submitted that after the formalities, mis-declared goods were seized and case was registered against said importer, after the hearing, court sent them to jail on judicial remand and directed jail authority to produce them on next date of hearing before the court.
Court also directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit final challan on next date of hearing.
