KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has sent a suspect, Muhammad Adnan, proprietor of M/s AD International Export and Import, TV Colony Peshawar to Central Jail on judicial remand. The suspect was booked in a case of mis-declaration.
During the hearing, Investigation Officer Muhammad Ahmed, also Appraising Officer, Model Customs Collectorate, Appraisement West Customs House Karachi, appeared before the court and submitted that it was established that the proprietor of M/s AD International Export and Import in connivance with other accomplices knowingly and will fully committed mis-declaration of their goods, causing losses the national exchequer.
The investigation officer further informed the court that investigation against the suspect has been completed. Therefore, the prosecution has no need for further physical remand of him and the court may send him to jail on judicial remand.
After his arguments, the court sent the said accused to jail and directed the jail authorities to produce him before the court on next date of hearing.
During the hearing, counsel for the accused/ application also moved an application for after arrest bail and court issued notice to the special prosecutor for customs department and call police paper, court also adjourned the hearing for 23/003/2017.
According to the prosecution, case was registered against Muhammad Adnan and others in violation of section 2 (s) 16, 19, 32, 79, 121 and 192 of the customs act, 1969 read with section 3 (1) of Import & Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under clauses 8, 9, 10A, 14, 45, 63, of section 156 (1) of the Customs Act, 1969 read with section 3 (3) of the Import & Export (Control) Act 1950.
