LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has approved 14 days judicial remand of the accused, who was arrested in smuggling of cigarettes, cloths, mobile phones and some other items as well.
According to details accused Muhammad Hassan was arrested by the Customs Intelligence from Lahore. Customs Intelligence conducted an operation on intelligence information at Band Road Lahore and arrested accused Muhammad Hassan. Customs Intelligence recovered huge quantity of smuggled and non custom paid clothes, mobile phones, cigarettes, Gutaka and fire works from the accused possession. Customs Intelligence also recovered cloth from his possession. Worth of the recovered items is more than Rs 3.6 million in local market. The accused has caused a huge loss to the national kitty in the wake of duty and taxes.
Customs Investigation team produced him before the Customs Court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue that was approved by the court. Customs Judge Tahir Sabir has approved his remand for two days. After completion of the remand customs team will present him again before the court for further action.
Customs Court has registered a case against the accused and launched investigations as well after confiscating the vehicle and clothes that he was trying to smuggle. Now on Thursday Customs Court sent him to jail on judicial remand for fourteen days.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation has registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
