KARACHI: The Customs Court granted bail to suspects namely Aftar Hussain, Dilawar Shah, Kameen Bacha, Dila Ram Khan, Saleem Khan, Mobin Khan and Jalal ud din, who were involved in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid high speed diesel.
On March 4, 2019, counsel for the above-mentioned suspects filed bail petition and argued that their clients are innocents and have been falsely implicated in this case, who are ready to face trail and will submit surety, therefore, court may grant their bail. After the hearing, court granted their bail against the surety of Rs100,000 and directed them to appear on next date of hearing along with their counsels.
According to the prosecution, on an actionable information, customs team intercepted wooden launch Al-Zainab nearing no: BFD-15315 and recovered 9768 liters High Speed Diesel and asked suspects to provide lawful documents, however, they did not produce any lawful documents. Therefore, customs team arrested all suspects and said wooden launch and PC S.no 012/219 and crew list dated 09/01/2019 issued from fish harbor customs port Gwadar and other related documents of the seized wooden launch, valuing Rs15,879,120.
Case was registered for violation of Section 2(s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause 8 & 89 of Section 156 (i) ibid read with Section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
