KARACHI: The Customs Court granted after arrest bail to suspects Muhammad Sabir and Rafeeq in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 10,896 liters high speed diesel.
On 7 October 2019, counsel for accused moved petitions for after arrest bail and argued that his clients are innocent and have been falsely implicated in this case, as they are ready to furnish surety, therefore, court may grant their after arrest bail. After the hearing, court granted their after arrest bail against surety of Rs100,000 and directed them to appear before the court on next date of hearing without fail.
According to the investigation officer of customs preventive, on information customs preventive team intercepted Isuzu oil tanker bearing registration number SWN-133 carrying non-duty paid smuggled diesel oil parked at Katiar Pump, National Highway, Karachi.
He stated that during the search, customs team found high speed diesel which was smuggled from Balochistan and during the investigation it was revealed that said oil was smuggled on the fake and fabricated documents.
He said that above mentioned suspects were still absconders and prosecution was trying its best for their arrest and they will be produced when arrested. After the hearing, court had approved interim charge sheet and issued their non-bail-able warrants for next date of hearing.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the Customs Act, 1969 further read with section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
