LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of the Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the date of hearing of a case of gold smuggling against the accused who was arrested by the customs authorities from Lahore Airport.
Sources told Customs Today that a suspect, Ibrar Islam, was arrested by the customs preventive from the Allama Iqbal International Airport while he was travelling to Muscat. During the search of his luggage, the customs officials found 550 gram gold he was trying to smuggle from Lahore into the Gulf state. The customs registered a case against Ibrar and seized the item.
The Customs Investigation and Prosecution team presented him before the customs court which approved his physical remand for three days. The customs authorities have registered a case against him under the Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
