QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive busted huge quantity of smuggled goods worth millions of rupees in a successful raid.
According to the details, Collector Preventive Iftikhar Ahmad received credible information about smuggling attempt, a team of Pakistan Customs Preventive was constituted to conduct a raid on smuggling of goods in the market through land route of the bordering area.
The team of Pakistan customs beefed up the security and surveillance at the entry and exit check posts of Pashin, Balochistan and started checking the different vehicles.
During the search, on suspicion the staff of the Pakistan Customs intercepted a truck and asked the driver for travel documents which he failed to provide.
The officer of Customs Preventive informed Customs Today that after the search of the said truck huge quantity of smuggled foreign origin cigarettes as well cloths were recovered which were kept behind the fruits cartons and value of the said goods is estimated at Rs 10 million.
All the recovered smuggled goods and vehicle bearing registration number have been shifted to the Customs warehouse and further proceedings are underway. A case has been lodged against the culprits and more raids would be conducted to apprehend the mastermind involved in this crime of smuggling.
