LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has collected Rs 7,279 million on account of withholding tax during first six months (from July to December) of the financial year 2016-17.
The withholding tax has been collected by all the four customs collectorates, including Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Colletorate of Customs Multan and Collectorate of Customs Faisalabad.
As per details, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement collected Rs 3,314 million on account of withholding tax during the period under review while the collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs 3,786 million during the first six months of financial year 2016-17.
Similarly, Collectorate of Customs Multan collected Rs 115 million during the six months of the current financial year.
On the other hand, the Collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 63 million on account of withholding tax during the six months financial year 2016-17.
Overall the customs Central Region collected Rs 7,279 million withholding tax during the first six months of the financial year 2016-17.
The withholding tax has been collected from import and export by all the four collectorates that come under the limits of Central Region.
Sources told Customs Today that Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira has urged all the collectorates to expedite their efforts to meet revenue collection target for FY 2016-17.
