LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has collected Rs 66,430 million as duty and taxes during (July-December) of the current financial year 2016-17.
As per details, the Customs Appraisement Lahore collected Rs 31,997 million during the first six months of the financial year 2016-17 against the assigned target of Rs 33,167 million.
Similarly, the Collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs 14,072 million during the period under review against the revenue target of Rs 15,097 million during the financial year 2016-17.
On the other hand, the Collectorate of Customs Multan collected Rs 14,756 million during the period under review against the target Rs 24,328 million for the six months of the financial year.
Correspondingly, the Collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 5,603 million during the first six months of the financial year 2016-17 against the target of Rs 4,001 million during the financial year 2016-17. Overall the Central Region collected Rs 66,430 million during the period under review.
Source told Customs Today that Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira Nazir Saddiqui has directed all the collectors under the Central Region limits to speed up collection of the duty and taxes to achieve the financial year’s targets besides lower staff have also been ordered to put their maximum efforts for the revenue collections. Meanwhile, the chief collector has reportedly arranged periodical meetings with collectors to review their performance.
