LAHORE: Customs Central Region has collected Rs 21,949 million as sales tax collection the first four months of the financial year 2016-17.
The sales tax collection has been collected by all the four collectorates of the customs, including Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Colletorate of Customs Multan and Collectorate of Customs Faisalabad.
As per details, collectorate of Customs Appraisement collected Rs 9940.82 million sales tax during the four months of the period under review while the collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs 3780 million sales tax during the four months of financial year 2016-17.
Similarly, collectorate of Customs Multan collected Rs 6029 million sales tax during the period from July to October of the current financial year.
On the other hand, the collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 2197 million on account of sales tax during the period of financial year 201-17.
Overall the customs Central Region collected Rs 21949 million sales tax revenue during the first four month of financial year 2016-17. The sales tax has been collected from import and export by all the four collectorate that come under the limits of Central Region.
Sources told Customs Today that Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira Nazir has issued strict instructions and directed each and every team worker to do their best to achieve financial year targets. It was also reported that the chief collector is also periodically monitoring the collection of revenues.
