ISLAMABAD: The Customs Auction Cell of the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad generated over Rs1.00million of revenue by auctioning off one truck loaded with red chili and five trucks loaded with smuggling Indian bananas.
According to details explained by the sources of Customs Action Cell Islamabad that the cell held a public auction through advertisement on 15th of December 2017.
The Auction Cell called routinely participating bidders of perishable goods from Rawalpindi and Islamabad to take part in the public auction.
The auction was held under the supervision of Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gadd under the Customs Act of 1969. Six trucks, impounded before two days by the Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad from different locations, were auctioned.
The winners of the bids deposited 25% amount in advance on the spot and rest of the amount is to pay during next five to seven working days.
It was also told that the Auction Cell auctioned five trucks loaded with bananas smuggled through AJK valued at Rs0.6million. The auction was held according to the customs bylaws with a transparent manner.
