ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate auction cell earned Rs11 million through auction of non-duty paid vehicles and different smuggled goods.
Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gaad told Customs Today that auction was held on 28th June of FY17-18. He added that people from Islamabad and Rawalpindi participated in the auction which was organized by Customs along with Alvi Auctioneers.
He said that the different type of six vehicles out of eight were sold in Rs5.8 million plus Rs0.58 million of 10% income tax (IT) which was applied on vehicles in auction. He added that the total amount fetched by auction of vehicles is estimated at Rs6.38 million.
He said that 25% out of total amount was deposited in cash on the spot to customs staff at SWH whereas rest of total amount will have to be paid with next seven working days into the account of Islamabad.
He said that various goods were auctioned in Rs4.546 million plus Rs0.45 million applied in shape of IT; whereas the total amount fetched by goods was Rs4.996 million. It was told that auction cell held two auctions of vehicles and goods during last month of April FY2017-18.
He said that through both auctions which held during May FY2017-18, the auction cell earned Rs25.69 million which is not usual amount. He added that the auction cell earned Rs9.485 million through a public auction of NDP vehicles and seized smuggled goods which held on 12th April 2018.
