Customs ASO seizes velvet, offending vehicle worth Rs1.6m

ISLAMABAD: Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantityof foreign origin velvet and one offending vehicle worth Rs.1.6 million during crackdown.

Deputy Collector ASO Shahid Jan told Customs Today that he received credible information that one one offending vehicle is heading towards Islamabad loaded with huge quantity of foreign origin velvet.

After receiving the above said information he immediately constituted a ASO team comprising the ASO deputy collector immediately formed a team comprising Superintendent Nasir Barlas, Deputy Superintendent Rana Shakeel and Deputy Superintendent Matloob Hussain Shah. The ASO team established a check post near Swabi Interchange and started checking of vehicles.

The ASO team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number ADD 742 and recovered approximately 416 kilograms of foreign origin valvet. The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to show legal documents regarding possession and transportation of loaded velvet but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

It is also necessary to mention here that when ASO team asked about the documents of Toyota Corolla, the driver failed to show any documents. The ASO team after seizing the goods and vehicle forwarded the case to Customs Investigation and Prosecution department.
