LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team during ongoing anti-smuggling drive initiated on directions of Member Customs (Operations) Jawwad Awais Agha raided a godown in area of Badami Bagh and recovered smuggled goods worth Rs25 million. The recovered goods included smuggled tyres, auto parts, betel nuts, gutka, bags of smuggled Chinese salt.
Sources told Customs Today that smugglers dumped these goods in godown owned by Allah Dad.
The customs loaded all the recovered goods on four vehicles and brought the same to customs warehouse. The Customs anti-smuggling squad on a credible information received by Collector Customs Preventive Ahmed Rauf raided a godown in Raiwind area and recovered non-duty paid cloth. The market value of recovered cloth is Rs45 lakh. The FIR has been lodged and further investigation is under progress.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Preventive Ahmad Rauf directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt with iron hands.
