LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has recovered 638 smart phones of assorted brands from a passenger bus.
Sources told Customs Today Collector Customs Preventive Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received information that a huge quantity of smart phones were being smuggled through a passenger bus. After receiving the information, he constituted an anti-smuggling team under the supervision of Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Deputy Superintendent Agha Qadeer, Inspector Tariq Baig, Ijaz Butt and Gulzar Bhatti.
The team established a check post near Shera Kot Bus Stand and started checking of passenger buses which were coming to Lahore. The team intercepted a bus belonged to Bilal Travels and recovered 638 different mobile phones and a huge quantity of prohibited drugs. The passenger, who was later identified as Wali, failed to provide any relevant documents regarding possession and transportation of the mobile phones and drugs.
During initial investigations, he revealed that he was going to supply these mobile phones and drugs to a trader of Hall Road, Lahore. The Customs Preventive team has started investigations after registering a case against the accused person.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Customs Preventive has directed anti-smuggling teams to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. He hailed the performance of anti smuggling teams who thwarted many attempts of smuggling in recent past. Customs ASO is using all available resources to curb smuggling in the region.
