LAHORE: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization seized over Rs5.2 million non-customs paid vehicles from various places in the city.
As per details the customs anti-smuggling team intercepted a non-customs paid vehicles headed by Assistant Collector Muhammad Asim Awan.
The teams consisting Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Inspector Sajjad Bukhari and others intercepted Vitz model 2009 in Cantonment area.
Sources told Customs Today that credible information was received that lot of non-duty paid vehicle was being plyed on fake number plates while the owner who was using the car failed to show legal import documents against the vehicle. The ASO being satisfied that the car owner does not have legal clearance documents detained the car.
Similarly the ASO team intercepted Honda Civic 2005 on Ferozpur Road near Punjab Group of Colleges and the teams seized the car as the owner failed to produce legal documents.
The sources said that the market value of the car is estimated at Rs0.8 million. On the other hand the team intercepted a Land Cruiser IDL/189 from Hafeez Centre.
The sources said that the vehicle was being used by Chinese national and the vehicle provided them by a Pakistani businessman for their use. The owner failed to produce legal import documents and the customs authorities detained the vehicle. The estimated market value of the Land Cruiser is estimated at Rs 3.6 million. The Customs ASO team registering cases has started further investigations.
