MUMBAI: Gold, diamonds and luxury goods worth Rs 1.34 crore were recovered on Saturday from two persons who arrived from Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
In the first case, the Air Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Customs arrested one Priyank Morakhiya, who had arrived from Hong Kong.
“We recovered 1.09 grams of gold valued at Rs 23.53 lakh, 456 pieces of diamond worth Rs 16 lakh, and two wrist watches of Audemars Piguet brand worth Rs 48.18 lakh. In total, goods and gold worth Rs 87.71 lakh were recovered from him,” said APS Suri, Commissioner of Customs.
In the another case, officials arrested one Surur Basha, who had arrived from Abu Dhabi. “We seized 2,000 grams of gold valued at Rs 46.63 lakh from him. It was concealed inside his shoes,” the official said.
