ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal (CAT) on Tuesday reserved the decision of two customs cases and adjourned the hearing of seven others filed against the Directorate General of Investigation and Intelligence, Islamabad (DGI&I) and Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad.
Customs Appellate Tribunal’s division bench headed by Chairman Justice (r) Malik Manzoor Hussain and comprising another member, Ziaudding Wazir, held the hearing of the cases.
The bench reserved decision on two customs cases filed against Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad by M/s Atlas Honda. The bench adjourned hearing of another customs cases filed by M/s Mansoor, against Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the bench also adjourned hearing of six other references till next visit of Tribunal’s chairman to Islamabad’s headquarters. These cases included customs matters filed by M/s Fida International, M/s Irfan Ullah, M/s Luner Technologies, M/s Five Star Trading, M/s Fahad Industries, and M/s Nayatel Private Limited.
Directorate General of Investigation and Intelligence had to respond in all these cases challenging various decisions of the department’s section.
All of the said cases had been filed during recently year. The department had yet not submitted objections any of the said cases. The appellants had submitted that they had exhausted departmental adjudication before filing application before the tribunal in search of justice.
