Customs Appellate Tribunal hears references filed by M/s Lucky Enterprises

ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal on Tuesday continued hearing of arguments on customs references filed by M/s Lucky Enterprises and field offices of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and directed the parties to prepare for final arguments and submission of remaining record.

Customs Appellate Tribunal’s single bench, comprising Member Syed Muhammad Anwar, heard the cases filed by M/S Lucky Enterprises and another by Haq Nawaz.

These cases had been filed during 2016. The cases were still pending with the tribunal. Earlier, these cases were heard by a single bench while now they are being heard by a division bench as per rules of tribunal.

M/s Lucky Enterprises had filed the case against MCC. It had challenged a customs duty assessment sustained by the adjudication.

M/s Haq Nawaz had filed cases regarding release of vehicles which were impounded by customs authorities amid attempt to smuggle various items.

The same bench had already heard a couple of cases involving seizure of mobile phones at the airport. Therefore, it was expected that the bench would soon decide fate of the case.
