ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal Chairman Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain on Wednesday evening left for Lahore to resume hearings at the regional office.
The chairman would hear customs cases at the Lahore station for a couple of days (Thursday and Friday). After completing the hearings in Lahore, Hussain will hear cases in Karachi from September 5 to September 9, the tribunal officials said.
In the recent week, Hussain heard taxes cases in Islamabad office for three days. The chairman heard cases in single and division benches.
In the meantime, he heard cases filed by Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad, United Trading Co., M/s Janjua Life Trust, M/s Smart Zone and M/s Venus Pakistan Private Limited.
He also heard cases of M/s Wahid Hamid, M/s Premier Formica Industries, M/s Ghani Glass Limited M Ishaq, M/s Fazal Razaq and M/s Fazal ur Rehman.
As per directions of the chairman, old cases were being listed for hearing on priority basis. However some important cases filed recently were also included in the list.
It is pertinent to mention that while chairing the hearings, the chairman time and again remarked that verdict on cases would not be delayed and lawyers involved must pay heed to tribunal’s directives for bringing immediate relief to appellants.
