LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport foiled a bid to smuggle costly pigeons to Kuwait.
Sources told Customs Today that during checking of passengers of Kuwait Airways Flight No. 204, a customs team intercepted a passenger identified as Rafaqat and recovered 29 costly pigeons from him. The passenger belonged to Sialkot. Sources said that the Customs Preventive team produced the accused before the court of a wildlife magistrate who ordered Rafaqat to pay Rs 25,000 and allowed him to take the pigeons with him.
It is necessary on mention here that Customs Preventive Faiz Ahmad directed all anti smuggling staff who are deputed at airports to zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt according to law.
