ISLAMABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) collected Rs 532 million under the head of all duty taxes till December 20 of the financial year 2016-17.
AFU Additional Deputy Collector Khawaja Khuram Naeem told Customs Today that performance of revenue collection of all duty and taxes during the period was reasonable, adding that the AFU collected Rs 285 million under the head of sales tax during first 20 days of December 2016-17.
He said that during first 20 day of December, the AFU collected Rs 118 million under the head of withholding tax as for as the AFU collected revenue Rs 129 million under head of customs duty. He added that AFU is hopeful of exceeding its given target of Rs 210 million under head of customs duty. Khawaja Khurram said AFU will achieve its 2nd quarter target of all duty and taxes, adding that for this purpose the AFU is following all possible efforts to meet the target.
He added that the AFU will meet its assigned target of 2nd quarter by clearance of stuck stores and through auctions as for as the AFU will made bank guarantees encashment. He said that the AFU’s performance during the first quarter was satisfactory and it will also surpass its assigned target for month of December 2016-17 as for as will surpass its assigned target of 2nd quarter (October to December FY16-17).
He adding together that Collectorate was given target for customs duty (CD) for first quarter under value of Rs.444 million and AFU achieved its assigned target of revenue with collection of Rs 458 million under head of customs duty.
He said that the Collectorate was assigned target under head of sales tax (ST) amounting to Rs 686 million and surpassed its assigned target with revenue collection under head of sales tax by collecting Rs 739 million.
Khawaja added that the Collectorate was assigned revenue collection target under head of withholding tax amounting Rs 633 million and AFU collected WHT amounting Rs 394 million under head of WHT during 1st quarter FY2016-17.
