FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan has issued an Order-in-Original (ONO) against the owner of non-duty-paid vehicle and ordered impounding of the vehicle.
According to details, the Anti-Smuggling Organization team intercepted a Toyota Premio car with registration No: AAQ 996-Quetta, Model 2008, House power 1496CC. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Abdul Ali of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Muhallah National Colony, Quetta city, was asked to produce the proof of vehicle’s legitimacy but he failed to do so. The ASO authorities, after being unsatisfied, impounded the vehicle and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication.
Neither importer nor his authorized person approached the customs for clearance of the consignment.
Superintendent Sardar Mohammad, Inspectors Abdul Jabbar, Safdar Ali, Naseer Ahmed and Masood Saeed Chohan and Bashir Hussain (IO) appeared before the authority and no written reply was received from the respondent.
From the case record of the forensic science laboratory, chassis number of Toyota Premio car with registration No: AAQ 996 Quetta was found cut. Neither respondent nor his counsel or any written reply appeared to defend the case. The inspector appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the seized vehicle falls under Section 2(S) of the Customs Act-1969.
Therefore Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan ordered the seizure of goods under Clause 14 of the Section 156 (1), 157(1) and (2) of the Customs Act-1969.
