LAHORE: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Mohammad Hassan Farid has declared the seizure of non duty paid goods as legal.
According to the details, Superintendent Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) forwarded a contravention report no: 187/2017 dated 13.7.2017 in which it was stated that staff of ASO intercepted a Suzuki Pickup bearing registration no: LHC-8927 near Regal Chowk. On query the person on driving seat introduced himself as Mohammad Saleem son of Mohammad Iqbal resident of Link Shadman Road Lahore.
During checking of vehicle the anti smuggling team recovered 12 LEDs. The team asked the owners of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these LEDS. But he failed to produce any legal documents regarding non duty paid LEDs. Upon his failure ASO team seized the goods and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
During proceedings in Customs Adjudication department, ASO team served several show cause notices to the owner of these goods but he remained failed to appear in person on date of appearing. Due to this there was sufficient proof available that the person willfully avoiding to appear in Adjudication and he has nothing lawful to defend himself. Now Customs Adjudication declares seizure of all these non duty paid LEDs as legal.
