KARACHI: A Special Custom Appellate Tribunal has ordered an appellant Noor Ahmed Thebo to produce original invoice of a Suzuki jeep.
In 2010, the accused became the fourth owner of the vehicle bearing registration No BC3518 Suzuki Potohar (model 1994). After using the vehicle for many years, the owner replaced the upper body with a body of Suzuki Sehra, which was detained by DIT Hyderabad in 2015.
The petitioner filed appeals before Custom authorities seeking release of the vehicle on the basis that it was locally manufactured and not a smuggled vehicle. His appeals were rejected and appellant filed appeal before the tribunal which ordered the Custom authorities to take the vehicle to Suzuki company for verification purpose.
Ghulam Ullah Sheikh advocate of Franklin law Associates dully instructed by CEO Faisal Ghani, pointed out to the tribunal that instead of physical examination Custom Department wrote a letter to Suzuki motor company and thus violated tribunal’s order.
The tribunal has directed the appellant to produce original invoice of purchase.
