LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a crackdown on the real estate builders, developers, and housing societies for not paying their due taxes.
According to senior official of the Federal Board of Revenue, the FBR has created a squad to raid the tax defaulters and initiate investigations against them. The purpose of this campaign is to bring the people into the tax net.
Commissioner Ayesha Imran Butt has formed the special teams in this regard to get maximum housing societies and builders into the tax net. One team of the Federal Board of Revenue will be supervised by Inspector Asghar Warya while other team will be led by Inspector Qadeer Khan.
The FBR has also asked for all the record of the housing societies in Lahore. The teams of the Federal Board of Revenue have started the surveys of the housing societies, builders, contractors and consultants.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) shall also start a crackdown on more than 10,000 non-taxpayers in the coming days.
The FBR teams formed especially for this purpose would raid the business premises of non-taxpayers and seize their goods and records and even impose fines and penalties after arresting them. The action would be taken against those non-taxpayers who are not replying to the notices issued for production of documents and records.
The FBR teams would apprehend the non-taxpayers under Income Tax Amended Act-2016, Article 125. The raiding teams would seal the business compounds of the non-filers in Lahore.
