ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi has informed the Senate Committee on Maritime Affairs that contracts of Port Qasim Authority and Karachi Port Trust are being reviewed.
He also told the committee that the previous fishing policy is being revised and new policy is being devised, addressing the issues of Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim, Fisheries and Gwadar Port Authority. Second meeting of the Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was held in Parliament House under the chairmanship of Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi MNA.
The agenda of the meeting was to review working and performance of the Ministry and its attached departments and discuss and scrutinize the budgetary proposals of the Ministry relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the budget 2019-20 under the rule 201 (6) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
The committee was briefed on the working of the ministry and its attached departments. The Minister told committee that night navigation at port Qasim has started and it is another achievement of present Government that two LNG ships are being accommodated at one time.
The committee lauded the efforts of the Minister and assured their support in resolving the issues. The Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the budget 2019-20 was presented. The Committee endorsed all the ongoing schemes and future schemes presented and gave its nod of approval to the sum of money required for the schemes.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Muhammad Yaqoob Sahikh, Faheem Khan, Saif Ur Rehman, Abdul Shakoor Shad, Mir Khan Muhmmad Jamali, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Mr. Lal Chand, Ms. Shahnaz Naseer Baloch, Mr. Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Mr. Jam Abdul Karim Bijar, Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, Mr. Kamal Uddin and Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs along with senior officers of the ministry.
