The importers’ delegation informed the collector that they are facing issues in clearance of their consignments at Qasim International Containers’ Terminal (QICT), as due to the lethargic approach of the examiners, the consignments are being delayed on regular basis and it will increase the “cost of doing business” as the importers have to pay demurrage and detention cost as extra payment due to delay in the clearance process.
The importers further said that the assessment of the consignments in different groups is also not being up to the mark and the assessment officers and examination officers are adopting delaying tactics for clearance of the consignments.
