KARACHI: Collector Customs Export Saqif Saeed recovered evaded amount of taxes and duties of Rs 3.90 million from M/s Nadeem Ceramics and another company M/s B B Chemicals.
Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the export data, it was revealed that M/s Nadeem Ceramics availed undue benefits and concessions by export a consignment of fancy besons, taps by misusing the SRO 546. The consignment was cleared through Examiner Rehman Warsi on January 19, 2018.
Sources said that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 2.45 million. Investigations were started after detecting the tax evasion and the Customs Export issued a final notice to the company on 2nd August, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within fourteen days.
After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Nadeem Ceramics deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on August 20, 2018.
While on the other hand the management of M/s B B Chemicals also cleared Rs 1.45 million of taxes and duties. Sources said that M/s B B Chemicals also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.
The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 4th August, 2018. The management of M/s B B Chemicals deposited the evaded amount of taxes on 20 August, 2018.
