ISLAMABAD: Collector Customs Adjudication Sadiqullah Khan has issued show-cause notice to owner of a godown, Muhammad Arshad and deputy collector customs, anti-smuggling division (North), in seizure case of foreign smuggled goods no: 134/2018.
The collector adjudication instructed both respondent and reporting agency to furnish documentary evidence and present oral arguments on the date of hearing on September 13.
According to details, it was reported by the deputy collector customs, anti-smuggling North Peshawar, that the staff of ASO raided a godown near Haji Camp and found foreign origin smuggled goods polyester cloth 250, (16100 yards), Astar cloth 230 (19350 yards), refrigeration coils 870 kilograms, supari and gutka 30 bags 1650 kilograms, shampoo packing material 2880 kilograms, steel cable lock size 15×800 mm 73 1530 kilograms, Philips dry iron model HD 1172 95, LG smart TVs 32” (Egypt), 43 LG smart TVs 43” and LG UHD TVs 43” (Egypt).
During the raid and examination of goods, no evidence of legal imports of foreign goods was produced, therefore, the customs staff seized the goods in terms of Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 for violation of Section 2(s) and 16 of the Customs Act 1969.
Now, therefore, in light of reported facts owners of foreign origin seized goods is called upon om show cause as to why the seized goods should not be confiscated and why legal action should not be taken against them under Section 156 (1) (8) (89) and (90) of the Customs Act 1969.
