LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Lahore has declared the seizure of white Land Cruiser V-8, registration number BF-7848 (Sindh) legal. The vehicle was confiscated by the Customs I&I on Mall Road, Lahore.
According to Customs Intelligence sources, when the customs authorities intercepted the vehicle, the driver introduced himself as Sheraz Mufti son of Mufti Mazhar, a resident of House No 4, Street No 34, Mohallah Mufti Street, Sultan Pura, Lahore. However, he failed to produce registration and any other document showing legal procession of the vehicle. The accused further stated that the vehicle was in the ownership of his friend Aizaz alias Tipu, who is proprietor of a show room M/s Car Studio, Samnabad, Lahore. It was said that the statement of the showroom owner was also recorded. The authorities took the vehicle in their custody and seized it in the name of the state.
Customs Adjudication collector Zafar Akhtar while giving his verdict on the case said that he examined the case record and heard the oral argument put forth by the detecting agency, the respondent neither responded to the show cause notice nor do they appear to defend their case.
He said that that the charges leveled against the accused party in the show-cause stands established and consequently he ordered the seizure of Toyota Land Cruiser’s confiscation as legal.
