LAHORE: Clerics, civil society and customs officials praised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for disallowing the import of French weekly Charlie Hebdo.
As per details, the FBR has put curbs on the import of the French magazine and has directed the customs officials to confiscate the consignments of the magazine.
It is mentioned in the official letter that the magazine was trying to spread the blasphemous magazine all over the world, including Pakistan to hurt the Muslims’ emotions. The FBR has taken the action in the wake of the recent blasphemous caricatures.
The customs has assigned vigilant teams at all airports, seaports, dry ports and borders to stop the import of the magazine.
It is important to mention that protests against the blasphemous caricature by magazine continued across Pakistan. Civil society, political and religious parties are holding protest demonstrations to denounce the blasphemous caricatures published by the magazine.
Clerics and civil society have urged the FBR to take strict action against those found involved in spreading the blasphemous magazine. They also demanded that the government suspend trade with France until it bans the magazine.
The customs officials have shown their determination regarding the implementation of the FBR instructions.
