CJP should take action against Maersk for taking extra demurrage and detention charges

FAISALABAD: Cheif Justice Asif Saeed Khosa should take action against M/s Maersk Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd in a mega scam of taking exorbitant demurrage and detention charges from importers.
Coordinator Aman Taraqi Party advocate Sajjad Ahmed Ramana while talking to Customs Today said that the Cheif Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa should take action against M/s Maersk Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd for looting importers in a mega scam of demurrage and detention.
He said collection of exorbitant demurrage and detention charges from genuine importers is an open violation of laws and said shipping company should be held accountable for stealing huge revenue.
He said PTI government is facing huge financial challenges in the country due to widespread money laundering, tax evasion along with current account deficit and absence of foreign investment.
He requested that the government and the CJP should take action against said shipping company involved in excess logistic charges violating rules 603(q) 603(r) 604(p) 604(q) and 607(e) and others under SRO 1220/2015 to protect importers from blackmailers. They should recover looted revenue worth billions from above-mentioned shipping company under head of demurrage and detention charges to address importers grievances.
