KARACHI: Commissioner Inland Revenue Zone-II Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) has moved the Sindh High Court (SHC), challenging impugned judgments of the commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals and Customs Appellate Tribunal Karachi over a show cause notice for recovery of Rs 252,980, 002 in respect of sales tax from M/s Dewan Steel Mills.
During hearing of case counsel for the applicant stated in its special sale tax reference that applicant issued a show cause notice to said taxpayer which despite submit above mentioned amount, approached commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals and moved an appeal which was allowed and appellate tribunal also maintained the appeal illegally filed by taxpayer without considering facts and law.
Citing M/s Dewan Steel Mills as respondents, applicant pleaded the Sindh High Court may declare that judgments of the commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals and Customs Appellate Tribunal Karachi are illegal, mala fide and arbitrary, court may set aside impugned orders of the both appellate forums and may direct taxpayers to pay the amount in respect of sales tax.
