LAHORE: Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira Nazir Khan inaugurated the newly established Control Room at the Customs House Lahore on Thursday.
According to official sources, in a bid to beef up security arrangements of Custom House and its various stations in Lahore, the Customs Collectorate Preventive has taken a number of initiatives like installation of barbed wire around Customs House and training of the customs staff while establishment of ‘Customs House Control Room’ is yet another initiative.
A customs contingent comprising inspectors and sepoys is currently undergoing combat training at FC training centre at Warsak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), which is expected to complete the training by 1st week of August, 2016 and join the Collectorate soon. As per the sources the Control Room has been set up in the Customs House, Lahore. The security arrangements and any suspicious activity and movements at any Customs Station of the Collectorate can be monitored from this Control Room on real time basis, it was added.
Addressing the gathering Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira Nazir highly appreciated the initiative of Customs Collectorate Preventive and said that establishment of Control Room will go a long way in ensuring security of the property and the employees of the Customs.
Senior officers of the Customs including Collector of Customs Appeals Asif Mehmood Jah, Collector of Customs Preventive Zulfiqar Younas, Director Valuation Mubashar Baig, Additional Collector Sameera Sheikh, Additional Director Zeb Gul Shabbir and other were also present on the occasion.
Since the Chief Collector of Customs Samaira Nazir and Collector of Customs ZulfiqarYounas assumed their respective offices a number of welfare of the staff and professional development initiatives have been undertaken.
