Checking of passengers coming from Dubai flights intensified to abort gold smuggling

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad has enhanced the checking of passengers coming from Dubai flights for preventing any attempt of gold smuggling during the current Financial Year FY2017-18. The said initiative has been taken after the seizure of 21 kilogram of gold at the Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar in the last week.

The Collector MCC Islamabad told Customs Today that some of the passengers, travelling from Dubai to Islamabad, will try to smuggle a big quantity of gold. The customs has been especially advised to check the passengers coming from Dubai. The customs employees have also been advised to check the shoe and wearing stuff of the passengers.
The Collector further told CT that the MCC Islamabad has deputed sniffer dogs at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad for checking of passengers bound for Middle East.

He said the MCC Islamabad is expecting comparatively more revenue during the current Financial Year 2017-18. The collectorate has geared up its efforts to curb the smuggling trends under the jurisdiction of MCC Islamabad.
