Major reshuffling of grade 17 officers and above in offing
KARACHI: Major transfers and postings of grade 17 and above officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are likely to be made in the next few days by the Chairman FBR, Tariq Bajwa.
FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa who was on trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah has returned home and is reportedly discussing the matters of promotion.
Source close to the FBR claimed that this time the FBR has decided to ensure pure merit during the transfers and postings. They said that this time the process would be made crystal clear that the transfers would purely be made on the performance of the officers and his duration of stay on one seat.
It may be mentioned here that a large number of officers are awaiting their postings since long, while there is also a big number of officers who are sitting on a prized posts for over three years.
Experts here suggested that there should be a criterion for the promotions and transfers sans favouritism and the officers of clean reputations should be given important posts.
However, they were optimistic that the Chairman Tariq Bajwa has always shown his good intent by nominating officers of good repute and impeccable integrity like Collector of Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East, Muhammad Saleem, Collector Port Muhamaad Bin Qasim, Suraiya Butt, Collector Appraisement-Lahore, Zahid Khokar, Director General Customs Investigation and Intelligence Lutfullah Virk, Director Customs Valuation Abdul Rasheed Sheikh etc.
They said that those officers who have been recently promoted in their next grade are mostly working on their previous position and they too are also likely to be accommodated.
