BRUSSELS: Brussels Airport this week for the tenth time awarded the Aviation Awards. A total of ten airlines and partners received an award in various categories. Awards include presented to Brussels Airlines, Ryanair, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines Cargo.
Brussels Airport reached for the fourth time the Diamond Award, a prize for people who have contributed to the successful development of Brussels Airport. Koen Gouwe Loose Managing Director Hubs & Gateways Benelux & France at DHL, received the award from the hands of airport CEO Arnaud Feist.
The list of all award winners includes; Network Development Award Short Haul Airline for Ryanair, the second carrier has become Brussels Airport with five new routes and 33 percent passenger growth.
Network Development Award Long Haul Airline for the third time for Brussels Airlines. In April 2016 opened despite difficult times Toronto as a new intercontinental destination with five weekly flights.
Network Development Award Cargo Airline goes to Ethiopian Airlines Cargo. The hub at Brucargo has been expanded with more flights and destinations. Ethiopian, after a short trip to Maastricht became the largest cargo airline at Brussels Airport in the past six months
The Brucargo Award was presented to Air Cargo Belgium, a new initiative that brings together all stakeholders Brucargo into one organization.
The Environment Award went to Qatar Airways. Thanks to their passenger flights with the Boeing 787 and cargo flights with the Airbus is the most environmentally friendly airline at Brussels Airport by the airport.
The Safety Award was awarded for the second time LSG Skychefs for the innovative steps in the internal organization with clear responsibilities on the platform. LSK Skychefs working closely with Brussels Airport Safety.
The Punctuality Award Short Haul Airline goes for the second time in a row to Air Malta, with a punctuality of 88 percent for the eleven weekly flights.
The Long Haul Airline Punctuality Award was awarded to Qatar Airways, with a punctuality of 91 percent for eight weekly passenger flights to Doha.
The Performance Award Cargo Airline is Singapore Airlines, which has grown strongly in 2016 at Brussels Airport.
