BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.55%. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 5.40% or 0.29 points to trade at 5.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) added 4.21% or 0.45 points to end at 11.15 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) was up 3.81% or 1.11 points to 30.27 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which fell 1.68% or 0.58 points to trade at 33.94 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 1.30% or 0.31 points to end at 23.57 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 0.91% or 0.42 points to 45.62.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 241 to 132 and 35 ended unchanged. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 8.08% to 29.57. Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 4.96 to $1289.96 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.76% or 1.37 to hit $50.95 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $130.95 . USD/BRL was down 0.01% to 3.1796, while EUR/BRL fell 0.01% to 3.7554. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 93.09.
