BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.95%. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which rose 7.83% or 1.28 points to trade at 17.63 at the close. Meanwhile, RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) added 7.26% or 0.58 points to end at 8.57 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 6.66% or 0.87 points to 13.93 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which fell 3.99% or 0.26 points to trade at 6.26 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 2.69% or 0.40 points to end at 14.45 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was down 2.62% or 0.74 points to 27.52. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 256 to 88 and 42 ended unchanged. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.63% to 41.14. Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 2.29 to $1257.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.37% or 0.19 to hit $51.28 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.34% or 1.75 to trade at $128.45 . USD/BRL was up 0.15% to 3.2750, while EUR/BRL rose 0.45% to 3.6737. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 96.99.
