When the man arrived at the checkpoint in a 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse, the agent’s canine partner alerted to an odor it was trained to detect. During the subsequent secondary inspection, agents found seven bundles of marijuana, worth almost $78,000, in the vehicle’s trunk. The driver was taken into custody without incident and faces prosecution for smuggling contraband. Agents transported the car and marijuana to the Ajo Border Patrol Station to be processed for seizure.
